Hi Layla, I hope you dont mind, but I posted pictures of your kitchen on my blog www.binghamcottage.blogspot.com! I just love the black cabinets, the baskets, the open shelves, and the molding! You are truly inspirational to me - I even stole a couple of your ideas already. For my bedding - the Pottery Barn damask print, and the Behr "Ryegrass" paint color of your door, I used for my bar stools!
Love it! Thanks Layla!
Wow, What a small world! I grew up in Prattville! I didn’t realize you were from Prattville until I went to your AWESOME blog! My husband and I live in Birmingham with our two kids. We are in Prattville almost every weekend. We have a lot of family and friends in that area. My parents own Fat Boys BBQ. We love Prattville! I know a lot of people who live on your street.
We bought our first house in Birmingham about 2 years ago! I LOVE to decorate and I came across your kitchen in Rate My Space. You have an amazing talent!
I love your style... have you checked out these plates from haus interior? I immediately thought of you.

Hello! I just wanted to take a moment to say that I love your blog! I stumbled upon it this morning and can't stop looking through all of the photos! Your home is gorgeous! My husband and I just got married last December and, while we don't yet own our own house, I've been working on buying pieces and renovating for later on. Your style is dead on, as far as what I would like our house to be like. Thank you so much for sharing your knack for decorating with everyone!
I have a suggestion for your front door knob. I recentley painted mine with Rustoleum Hammered Finish spray paint and it works beatifully. You don't need to remove the handle from the door, just tape it off really well and spray it. The paint will not clog up the keyholes so don't worry about that. My door knob was very similiar to the one you are wanting, only in brass. I wanted the brown/black finish on mine and thought I would give painting it a try before I spent the money on a new one and it worked! I also painted the brass kickplate.
Hey Layla, I wanted to thank you for giving me so much inspiration!I have applied some of your ideas to my own home and I keep coming back for more :) I recently started my own blog and it was after I visited yours that I wanted try it out. Since I am new to this, I don't know the proper etiquette but I wanted to let you know that I posted about you on my blog www.spacesuitsandabubble.blogspot.com I posted a picture of how I used the spice boxes! Thanks so much for letting people like me into your world and I am so happy for your magazine spot, can't wait to buy it!

Love your site - first visit today but added it to my Yahoo page. I sent your Christmas card w/your picture (such a cute couple!) to my daughter who is getting married in April. She will contact you to see if you can do "Save the Date" cards with their picture. Thanks for brightening my day.

Hello! Random question here.... Are you still selling those cute herb crates? I noticed the designated site to buy them is now gone. Where can I find them? Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for sharing your talents, tips, and advice. I caught your segment on The 700 Club and fell in love with the room. Your style is very similar to what I love and I also love and appreciate old, historic houses. They have so much charm; the brick, old sidewalk paths, breakfast nooks, built-in bookcases and shelving, old staircases, they are all so beautiful. I'm so excited I caught your segment because I am purchasing my own 100+ year old home next month and your talent is a huge inspiration to encourage me to decorate my home myself. Thank you for sharing. I cannot get enough of your website and look forward to enjoying more. You truly have a gift.
Layla - I know it sounds super 101, but I would love it if you did a really basic how-to on sanding things to give them a great distressed look. There's such a fine line between authentic looking distressing and total cheeziness. I am wondering
a. what you use to sand (I saw your little sander in shots of the guest bathroom door, and it looked so maneuverable. What is it?
b. What areas you focus on to age
c. anything else you think is relevant.
I'm actually very very handy and have done major renovations on my house - but for some reason - I get a little nervous about creating finishes like this. Faux can look so hideous if done wrong KWIS?
Any chance you'll do something like this? I think it would get a lot of hits.
xo
Hallie.
I Layla and Kevin. I came across your blog when I saw your kitchen on RMS. I have checked your site everyday since. Thanks for all the how to info and pics. You are a big inspiration. I think you are the next design star!!!! I am about to leave to go see if I can find window treatments like the VA Beach house. I live 8 miles from a Pottery Barn outlet. Wish me luck!!!
Back in the spring, you posted photos of painter drop cloths you used as window treatments. I've looked at a couple of stores here.... Can you tell me what kind you used (or where you got them?)
I think it's a wonderful idea, and I can't wait to get some of my own!
Hi guys! I just found your blog last week and am so inspired. I love your decorating. I'm in Atlanta, a sister city, and I too was inspire to start a blog called thefrenchcottage.blogspot.com. I am really into DIY projects that involve the home, so I was really impressed by your fireplace makeover! Great job, and keep up the good work!
I would love for you to check out what you have inspired me to do my lil blog http://littlecharmer911.blogspot.com/ I love your blog it keeps my mind going crazy thinking of so many new ideas for my own home and I love it....I hope you like it...Thanks
Hi Layla - I love reading your blog and getting ideas. I'm s-l-o-w-l-y trying to spruce up my house and you give me such inspiration. I recently bought some burlap b/c i love the look of it...i just don't know what to do with it now that i have it. Would you consider posting a little about burlap and how you've used it to give me and other readers some ideas?
Hi Layla,
I don't speak French, but I think it says "he will always forget to bring his pencils to class", am I close.

Hi Layla,
Love your site! The translation of that sentence is: You must always bring your pencils to class. But I must tell you that there is a typo on the word "class". In French, it is spelled "classe" (with an "e" at the end). Hope this helps!
Have a great day!
Nicole
I love your blog! I was told about it by a friend who knew I was remodeling my kitchen this year. Your kitchen is awesome and your blog is inspirational!
Thanks...I officially spent over two hours reading through your blog...I think it is wonderful that your blog has so much inspiration, wit and moments of awe that you captivated my ADD attention that long! Great site, Great ideas, cute couple!
-Katie
I have become slightly addicted to your blog since I entered the blogging world. Love it! You have a great style that is so fresh and fun. Our house has a different style than yours, but I love incorporating similar ideas and flea market finds. I thought you might enjoy my recent projects - painting our kitchen cabinets and a kitchen message center that I created. Both can be found at http://planninginbloom.blogspot.com.
Thanks for your blog, and good luck with the rest of your projects!
I love checking in on your blog and seeing what fun projects you two have been up to. You are so creative and an inspiration to me! I loved your little store that you had set up but I can't seem to find a link to it on your blog anymore. In particular, I am looking for those galvanized stands (like the one on the cover of your e-book). Can you help me out?
Love the blog! Thanks!
Shannon
